VYVYT is derived from "vivit", Latin for "he|she|it lives on". We want to create a virtual place that can be accessed by mourners from anywhere. Here, memories can be shared, and the deceased can be seen from new perspectives and, in this sense, live on.
| Lilli Berger | trained as an undertaker and studied film and leadership in digital communication. She also works in the production and direction of documentary films. In 2020, Lilli began developing the virtual 3D memory space farvel together with two co-founders. In 2022, the company VYVYT Innovations GmbH was born.
| Anton Kurt Krause | studied theater directing, is a visual developer and works on the staging of virtual spaces. In doing so, he utilizes the latest technologies in the field of augmented and virtual reality. He is creatively shaping the current discourse on the ritualized entry into digital spaces. At VYVYT, he focuses on the development and operation of the software.
We are committed to keeping memories alive. Our aim is to provide people in times of grief and farewell with a virtual opportunity to say goodbye regardless of time and place.

In 2020, Lilli Berger developed the concept for the first virtual 3D memory space farvel.space together with Markus Traber and Jennifer Beitel. In 2021, the team received the Berlin Startup Scholarship at the Universität der Künste (University of the Arts) to create a prototype. Subsequently, farvel.space was supported by the EXIST start-up grant at the Filmuniversity Babelsberg Konrad Wolf in 2022.
The innovation has generated media attention in the press like Spiegel, TAZ or t3n Magazin, radio and television (rbb, radio1, deutsche Welle, WDR, SWR). has been a guest at conferences such as re:publcia 21/22 and mth Conference und industry events such as To(d)tal Digital.
The possibility of visiting a virtual memorial site that simulates an encounter in physical space has never existed before. The technical basis for the farvel.space was the open source software Mozilla Hubs. By using this software, basic functionalities such as audio and video communication, spatial audio and 3D rendering were already in place and created a feeling of closeness. Because this technical basis was not developed for bereavement and therefore also presents users with challenges (e.g. in terms of control), VYVYT is further developing the concept of virtual 3D memorials.
